I bought a Kaeser air station last year and couldn't be happier. With rotary screw you do need the make sure it comes to running temperature. We bleed air to make it work a little harder.
We also had a noticeable improvement in the finish, though that was not the primary reason for getting it.

As I understand stand it, the air is compressed by two rotating shafts with helical coils. This metal to metal engagement requires lubrication. My dealer told me that under use of the compressor eventually damages the screw and that it needs to come up to working temperature to ensure good lubrication of the rotary screw element.

A rotary screw compressor will also produce internal condensation if under used causing lubrication problems and milkshake looking lubricant.
Not cheap to service or maintain but produces a lot more volume of air than piston pump.

you need to post more info for anyone to help you. Do you use enough air to warrant a screw compressor? Not sure how big that model is but a screw compressor runs from the time you turn it on until you turn it off. They are for places that use a lot of air
