Beaded face frame drawer opening hgt

Just curious, for beaded face frame construction, what is the height of your top drawer opening?
Thanks, bob

I started doing mine with a open top. I was looking for a way to not lose a bunch of space and this seems to work and look well. I run a banded 3/4" plywood piece on the box and that holds everything together and provides a stop for the drawer.

And that's a 6 and 1/ 2 " tall opening

As tall as you can while still allowing for a recycle rollout to fit in the base door opening. Depends on your rail sizes/toe height... of course. I've gravitated to 5" with 1 5/8" stiles and rails everywhere.

Not having a top rail is not an option for us. Our standard stile and rail widths for beaded inset ar 1 1/2". Our main issue is having enough "panel" for a bin pull. We can increase our drawer front (DF) hgt, but then, as Bob notes, the gabage roll-out (GRO) gets very close/tight.

It's also less work to build and less to finish. :)
