First post.

I have built a 50' x 25' catamaran from vacuum resin infused epoxy/corecell/glass.

Infused 50' hulls in a single shot. Used 2 part linear polyurethane to give the boat a car hood like finish after a lot of fairing (sandibg) So I know my way around a shop.

BUT... I am severely lacking in knowledge regarding cabinet making, which is the last step of this project.

I have many questions.

1) Anyone know of a reasonably priced cabinet maker in Miami or Long Island who would be willing to work on a boat that is in the water?

2) Assuming i can't afford #1... Where can I source pre-made panels for making cabinetry and furniture like those in the attached pictures? Local Miami source would be best, but can hand dolly them from a UPS store if need be. Panels should be foam core or maybe a honeycomb. Every pound counts. High performance boat.

3) How do you make the thick edged, square furniture like in the pics appear seamless at the edges?

4) How can I build a small, modern looking shower pan/enclosure? What lightweight materials would you suggest? It's only 22x40". A linear drain preferred for looks.

Note: Things need to be water resistant to a degree, but not waterproof (except shower). Some stuff was already done using Douglas Fir and it's fine because water is not allowed on the interior of this bigger boat. It's a mostly dry environment with a spill or 2, like any bathroom in a house. Don't get hung up on "marine only" because that's mostly for smaller or outdoor things on boats.

You asked a big question. Very cool on all that fiberglass stuff BTW. The cabinetry in your pics is likely plastic laminate/formica. You could also use veneer but it is much harder to work with, more expensive, and you have to finish it. For laminate you will need to find a lightweight substrate to apply the laminate to like you said. If you decide to do it yourself I would start by reading up on basic euro cabinet construction. Your dealing with nothing but rectangles and screws for modern/euro style cabinets. Once you figure out what size rectangles you need and how to screw them together your on to applying the laminate. There you need some commercial spray adhesive, some sticks, and a trim router. You will probably also want to learn how to spray tinted conversion varnish for areas you don't want to use laminate. Once you have read up on the basics you'll want to find a pro cabinet supply house and establish a relationship with them. I'm sure there are a few in the Miami area. Good luck...Joel

If you want to DIY this I would keep the core construction simple, and build torsion boxes with 1/2" hardwood plywood frames, and thin particle board skins. Laminate with Formica.

I will note that applying wood veneer properly can become a rabbit hole pretty quickly. At this point you would probably want to work with a cabinetmaker.

Another possibility I would consider, is that I would do some of this as miterfold with my CNC router from plywood. You might be able to find someone who you could work with on that.

Build it outta carbon. It's a catamaran, keep it light.
