primer for laminate edgebanding1/25
We've had issues with PL strips used for edgebanding not adhering very well. A release agent on the back of the sheet?
We have a new HolzHer using Dorus HKP25.
Some years ago we bought a primer and rolled it on the back of the sheet before ripping it up and that seemed to do it.
Does anyone know where to get this primer these days? Or any helpful suggestions?
Thank you for your help!
Dorus makes it! We use it. Other products also work.
We have been back spraying our laminate with spray grade contact cement before edgebanding for over 30 years will great results
Rolling on a PV glue/ water mixture works pretty well.
We use titebond 1 thinned about 1 to 1 with water. Don`t mix up more than you need as it tends to separate if left for a long time. We use this on solid wood also and the difference in holding strength is significant.
Do some tests and see what you think. There is a technique for veneering where you apply pvc glue to the veneer then heat with a iron to reactivate the glue while pressing it down with a veneer hammer. I speculate using it on the bander works the same way as the hot glue will reactivate the wood glue.
