Multiple dadoe'd shelves with faceframe
3/14/17
Hey guys, I've hit on this subject before but I'm just not getting enough accuracy to make dado'ing fixed shelves with a face-frame a viable option for units with multiple fixed shelves
It seems that either my "tick" marks aren't referencing when I mock up my completed face-frame to my sides (pre-dado), or my fence is out of square.
What are some tricks to getting a smooth rail-to-shelf without raising the frame a tad to compensate. Can it get perfect without a CNC?
What I've considered (and feel free to comment) is building the carcass with dadoed shelves first, then mock up the faceframe piece by piece UPSIDE down on top of the carcass, make reference marks and flip back over to build my faceframe. Do any of you do it this way? What are some option?
Thanks

If i understand you correctly the cabinet is made with fixed shelf's and the face frame is made also but without the dado's and then you run the ff through the table saw to make the dado's. Then they don't line up perfectly but really really close.
1. Make the stiles a little longer than needed then trim after the dado's to the exact bottom or.
2. Make the shelf's flush with the sides and eliminate dadoing the face frame all together.

If you want to build like this, why not run all the parts with the top of the cabinet parts against the fence at the same time? Maybe some are stopped, you didn't say. No tick marks needed. I stopped using dadoes decades ago. Got tired of fighting plywood thicknesses even back then.
