I know this has been discussed many times but...
We are running one ceros sander and one Deros. Using the pads that have all the small holes in them. I’ve went through a box of the Abranet and wasn’t really impressed. I’m looking to go back to paper. What do you guys recommend as far as brand, sterrate, how many holes, backing, where to purchase, I’d also be interested in the final grit you use before finishing. Thanks for the info.

Basically same as you. Same equipment. Never found any advantage to Abranet and just ran the last of it out of the shop a month or so ago and went back to Mirka Gold. We run 5" 8 hole because it works on some of our non Ceros sanders. 6" is only run on a PC angle grinder type RO. We dont find any issue with DC because with a vac and dust deputy cyclone there seems to be a good bubble of vac around the head of the sander.
On stain finish we try to stop at 150 but often go to 180 go close it up a bit on things like cherry and hard maple. Pigmented is generally 120. Natural finish like oils are way higher than 180 but very rare.

We use carborundum sticky discs from E Roko or Richelieu, no huge issues so far. Usually 150 grit or 180 for stain. Greg.

The Abranet is great when you are sanding finishes.
Also the HD lower grit (40-80) Abranet is nice for chewing wood when you need to.
I like the Mirka Gold 8 hole.

We've had really good success with the heavy weight Klingspor stearated 6 hole - a lot of sanding before changing out discs. If we are staining, I find I have to sand to 180 grit to avoid seeing swirls. I almost never have to sand finer than this.

Mike, how are you liking the Deros?
I have a Ceros and i LOVE it and wish they still made them but i need another sander. Deros looks too bulky...is it?
For discs, have you heard of 'multi hole'?
My favorite discs for the Ceros are Wurth Emerald velcro Multi Hole. There are a bunch of small holes that allow for excellent dust collection. They are expensive and i get them from Baer Supply.
3M makes a purple multi hole disc but i have found 3M products to be hard to get.
Not many people know about the multi hole discs.
Maybe Mirka Gold has gotten better but i used to hate Mirka Gold.
Carborundum Premier Red is also REALLY good sandpaper and i use it for my Dynabrades on the downdraft machine but they do not offer them in a multi hole.
I never thought that an 8 hole disc would work good on a Mirka Ceros.
I use an older Fein Turbo 2 on my Ceros.
Im always looking but i still have not found a disc that i like more than the Wurth Emerald Multi Hole.

Door shop guy, the Deros seems to basically be the same sander as the ceros as far as functioning. It’s just like anytime you get a new tool, you have to get used to it. Once you have gotten used to the larger back piece it’s second nature. I will point out that it does have a smaller diameter cord which is less heavy than that of the ceros, I seem to notice that more than anything. It makes it more comfortable to use in my opinion, plus I thinks it’s longer if I remember right. As far as the way it performs I can’t tell much difference between the two, but I do have limited exposure to it, the guy that sands the doors is the main one that uses it
I hadn’t thought about Baer sanding disks, and I do order from them. I used that emerald paper years ago but don’t remember how they did, ive ordered a box each of 80-150-180 of the Mirka Gold to try. I actually think I tried it years ago as well but can’t remember how it did either.
Grainger has the 3m disks listed on their website by the way.
