What is everyone using for file drawers?
Currently we use a KV6505, it has clips that attach to the drawer, and they have the capacity I'm comfortable with. On the wider file drawers, we've used the 8505's, but we rarely do a lateral file.
They just don't operate as smoothly as a good undermount, which is what all of our other cabinets are using. Plus adjustment is a godsend, and there's none to be had with the KV slides.
I don't feel a Blum 563H will hold up to the weight of a fully loaded file drawer as well as the KV, but I haven't tried using a 569, but they are rated for 135#
What is everybody else doing?
We don't do a lot of file drawers but usually use the 563H for them as that is what we use on everything else. Haven't had any call backs on them so I have to assume they are fine. Obviously these are on single row file drawers that aren't huge.
Don't underrate the Blum 563 glides. For single file drawers, they work beautifully. I've not had a single call back either - and we've done more than a few over the years. For a larger file drawer or a wide side-to-side, we step up to the 569. Again, never a problem and all the drawer actions stay the same throughout the project. I cannot get by using side mounts anymore unless it's commercial.
Check out the Movento Slide by Blum. Better weight capacity, side to side movement and has a geared attachment add on if needed. A worthy step up in the same family.
You've talked me into it.
We Use the 769R Movento for trash pullouts. I wish we could use the Moventos for everything, they are such nice slides, but I don't know if I could get people to pay for them. (I haven't tried either)
I think we'll try 569's for files from here on out. I too hate having soft close on everything but the file drawers. It's tiresome.
Almost any of our drawers that are over 32" we use the stabilizer on, and usually kick up to a 569 slide on those. I'll probably just use the same price add on for that as for file drawers.
