I have recently been spraying Pallmann X 96 and X 98 on floor treads with excellent results. I was just wondering if anyone knows how it might work as a kitchen cabinet finish? Especially on light woods. I always spray CV for cabinets and have never been a believer of water based finishes for wood, but this finish has changed my mind.

We run WB finishes exclusively but all of our interiors are prefinished UV ply. I could easily imagine a floor finish performing well on interiors however for us at least the move to lots of drawers and pullouts (rarely do we have a cab with stuff being set on the deck) the box interior is less and less of an issue.

I was thinking about how it might work on cabinet doors? Or what water based finish are most using for doors?

Not familiar with those finishes but there are some excellent two component WB finishes out there. We've used a WB that has urethane resin as it's primary ingredient and it has held up extremely well.

There are many waterborne finishes specifically designed for kitchens. They’ve been very good for 15 years.

You are trying to reinvent the wheel by using a wb floor finish on cabinets. Doesn’t make much sense. Floor finishes are usually too thick to spray.

I'd assume you have more chemical resistance in a cabinet finish vs floor finish.

You might have a good point about the more chemical resistance of finishes made for cabinets. As for the viscosity, I'm using a 1.5 mm tip and not thinning. I will re-post.

In the past, I sprayed quite a bit of Fuhr 260, which was a WB "aluminum oxide modified urethane" floor finish. Stuff was pretty bomber. I used it on a vanity top in my own bathroom 13 years ago and it's held up very well. Company seems to be out of business, but maybe someone bought them out?
