Edgebander Help
7/31/20
I have a Cantek edgebander. It has worked great until recently. It is now doing fine mostly and then will hit a spot with no glue. So I have pieces of edge banding coming loose in random places. We try to catch as much of it as possible when we run it but now I have a job installed where we are noticing a few pieces loose here and there. I have called cantek a few times and not gotten much help. I have not changed anything to make this start happening. Since it started we have cleaned the glue pot several times, taken as much apart as possible to make sure there isn't any dried glue anywhere, adjusted the glue temp. and nothing seems to fix it.

Are all your pressure rollers and fences in line? Could your parts not be cut straight, with a slight dip in them? Keeping it away from the glue roller.

although it may be entirely different situation... since i have a older scm edgebander.
but I have seen that happen when my panel is to far from the glue roller. Or in my case i when i set my premill at 2mm I have to move my fence in 1mm as well. If I dont I get random dry spots.
Basically the roller doesnt have enough pressure to the panel.

I would agree with the other posts, especially what Eddie said, put a straight edge on some of your edges that are coming lose and see if they are straight.
Also check to see if there is glue on all of the edge where banding is lose.
I would be concerned about your pot and applicator roller, but it sounds like you cleaned that all up.

I was having the same problem about a year ago. I found it to be a bad bearing on the glue roller. It will hit a tight spot on the bearing and momentarily stop or slow down sending the panel across a dry roller. I found the solution here on an old post.
