Selexx CNC -- 2 --
4/13

Website: http://www.americanvisioncabinets.com
Hi,
We are located in California,
Looking to get our first CNC, the Selexx brand is the top of our list, due to budget reasons; searching all over the internet and woodweb forums did not find much feed back good or bad.
please just give any feed back for Selexx pal or any model of the Omnitech is a reliable machine?
Also I will welcome any contact info for the closest tech to Los Angeles.
Thank you in advance.
4/14 #2: Selexx CNC ...

and how much it cost?

Just make sure that you buy one with the Fanuc controller. The original Selexx were sold with Siemens control and had some issues. I was told this by a Selexx dealer.
4/14 #4: Selexx CNC ...

as i see in there website they use taiwan :
"Syntec PC based controller with graphic interface",
no fanuc no simens
4/14 #5: Selexx CNC ...

There Selexx series uses Fanuc for at least 10 years. Siemens before that. Call them and ask for David Payne, very knowledgable sales guy.

Akram,
Thank you for your interest in Omnitech CNC routers. For factual clarification:
The Seimens controller was initially used on the Selexx series at the introduction of the line through 2003 when we introduced the Fanuc oi-19 controller / servo motor system. Although this represents a limited number of Seimens controller machines, there are still some in service today.
Yaakov Katz,
We are a CNC machine manufacturer that supports all third party software platforms as the Fanuc controller will run them all.
We make our own spindles that are cartridge type ISO 9002/2002 certified. With our spindle repair facility in Pineville NC we can repair or replace a spindle in as little as 72 hrs. Although being ISO certified, you can repair it at any qualified spindle repair facility. (NO proprietary parts... )
Anderson Corp, our manufacturing parent company is based in Taipei Taiwan with facilities around the world. We have been importing CNC machines into the USA since the mid 1980's with close to 5,000 installations in North America of which Omnitech represents about 10%.
The Spectra Series from Omnitech uses the Andi / Syntec controller. This controller is used on a number of Anderson products in the wood and printed circuit board industry.
Please contact me directly for pricing on the particular Omnitech machine to meet your needs.
Akram,
Our nearest technician to Los Angeles is just north of Santa Barbara. We provide a two year warranty including technician travel and labor for the first year. Post warranty, he is within easy reach of your shop.
Ralph Snader,
Thanks for the props!

All, keep in mind that the location of the nearest Tech isn't always the correct answer. Techs typically aren't sitting at home waiting for your call. They are on the road and although they may live nearby he could be across the country when you need him. It's just the way the business is. I have a great Stiles tech that lives in walking distance to our shop but sometimes it just doesn't work out when we need a tech. One time he was in India - that's not close!

Bought a 4 x8 Omnitech seleex mate. 2007. Has been a great machine. Fanuc controller with fanuc server motors. T.J. Senn or Bob Nichols are very good at tech support.

David, i will be contacting you for as how to set up our used one we just got it yesterday, waiting for the transportation company to bring it to our shop.
Joe Knobbe
thank you for the input, you are right and i hope this is not the same deal with selexx,
at the same time i will appreciate any contact info for a Local Tech for this machine.
Thx
4/16 #11: Selexx CNC ...

Have had a Selexx Mate for about 6
years.
Very few problems, never needed a tech on site.
Have called my dealer in Toronto a couple of times to help troubleshoot a couple of very minor issues.
Solved the problems over the phone.
Using Planit Cabinet Vision

I need some help. I have used a MultiCam 5000 at my previous employer and I am wondering if any of the previous training will crossover to the Selexx Pal that my current employer has. The MultiCam was very easy to learn to use. I ran it for over 10 years. I just want to do some homework before they throw me on it after the New Year. Thanks for the help in advance.
4/30 #16: Selexx CNC ...

I have an omni-tech cnc router. I have not had good luck with their tech support or my machine. I have had it for about 3 years now and I have had to replace: six linear guide way carriages, three pneumatic pop up pins, the z axis homing sensor, and now the z axis servo motor.
When working with tech support they have at times not even responded, which warrented a follow up email to receive a response, sometimes delayed by up to a week. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

FORUM GUIDELINES: Please review the guidelines below before posting at WOODWEB's Interactive Message Boards (return to top)
WOODWEB is a professional industrial woodworking site. Hobbyist and homeowner woodworking questions are inappropriate.
Messages should be kept reasonably short and on topic, relating to the focus of the forum. Responses should relate to the original question.
A valid email return address must be included with each message.
Advertising is inappropriate. The only exceptions are the Classified Ads Exchange, Machinery Exchange, Lumber Exchange, and Job Opportunities and Services Exchange. When posting listings in these areas, review the posting instructions carefully.
Subject lines may be edited for length and clarity.
"Cross posting" is not permitted. Choose the best forum for your question, and post your question at one forum only.
Messages requesting private responses will be removed - Forums are designed to provide information and assistance for all of our visitors. Private response requests are appropriate at WOODWEB's Exchanges and Job Opportunities and Services.
Messages that accuse businesses or individuals of alleged negative actions or behavior are inappropriate since WOODWEB is unable to verify or substantiate the claims.
Posts with the intent of soliciting answers to surveys are not appropriate. Contact WOODWEB for more information on initiating a survey.
Excessive forum participation by an individual upsets the balance of a healthy forum atmosphere. Individuals who excessively post responses containing marginal content will be considered repeat forum abusers.
Responses that initiate or support inappropriate and off-topic discussion of general politics detract from the professional woodworking focus of WOODWEB, and will be removed.
Participants are encouraged to use their real name when posting. Intentionally using another persons name is prohibited, and posts of this nature will be removed at WOODWEB's discretion.
Comments, questions, or criticisms regarding Forum policies should be directed to WOODWEB's Systems Administrator
(return to top).
Carefully review your message before clicking on the "Send Message" button - you will not be able to revise the message once it has been sent.
You will be notified of responses to the message(s) you posted via email. Be sure to enter your email address correctly.
WOODWEB's forums are a highly regarded resource for professional woodworkers. Messages and responses that are crafted in a professional and civil manner strengthen this resource. Messages that do not reflect a professional tone reduce the value of our forums.
Messages are inappropriate when their content: is deemed libelous in nature or is based on rumor, fails to meet basic standards of decorum, contains blatant advertising or inappropriate emphasis on self promotion (return to top).
Libel: Posts which defame an individual or organization, or employ a tone which can be viewed as malicious in nature. Words, pictures, or cartoons which expose a person or organization to public hatred, shame, disgrace, or ridicule, or induce an ill opinion of a person or organization, are libelous.
Improper Decorum: Posts which are profane, inciting, disrespectful or uncivil in tone, or maliciously worded. This also includes the venting of unsubstantiated opinions. Such messages do little to illuminate a given topic, and often have the opposite effect. Constructive criticism is acceptable (return to top).
Advertising: The purpose of WOODWEB Forums is to provide answers, not an advertising venue. Companies participating in a Forum discussion should provide specific answers to posted questions. WOODWEB suggests that businesses include an appropriately crafted signature in order to identify their company. A well meaning post that seems to be on-topic but contains a product reference may do your business more harm than good in the Forum environment. Forum users may perceive your references to specific products as unsolicited advertising (spam) and consciously avoid your web site or services. A well-crafted signature is an appropriate way to advertise your services that will not offend potential customers. Signatures should be limited to 4-6 lines, and may contain information that identifies the type of business you're in, your URL and email address (return to top).
Repeated Forum Abuse:
Forum participants who repeatedly fail to follow WOODWEB's Forum Guidelines may encounter difficulty when attempting to post messages.
There are often situations when the original message asks for opinions: "What is the best widget for my type of shop?". To a certain extent, the person posting the message is responsible for including specific questions within the message. An open ended question (like the one above) invites responses that may read as sales pitches. WOODWEB suggests that companies responding to such a question provide detailed and substantive replies rather than responses that read as a one-sided product promotion. It has been WOODWEB's experience that substantive responses are held in higher regard by our readers (return to top).
The staff of WOODWEB assume no responsibility for the accuracy, content, or outcome of any posting transmitted at WOODWEB's Message Boards. Participants should undertake the use of machinery, materials and methods discussed at WOODWEB's Message Boards after considerate evaluation, and at their own risk. WOODWEB reserves the right to delete any messages it deems inappropriate. (return to top)
