Did you set the z datum in Vcarve at the bottom of the material? That is what I do to get z axis correct, never had to change anything else.
Vcarve does not write code for the boring head, drill cycles. What I do is create tool paths for boring as I was using main spindle but just to get xy coordinate for drill or first drill. Then I take this line of code with xy, add the boring head data and delete the tool change router start and stop for main spindle. If you just want to drill single holes sometimes it is quicker to just use main spindle with dowel drill than change code. If you have a lot of drilling like line bore etc. or many sheets of same pattern you will want to change to drill spindles. You just need to have the xy start for each drop and then drop say T1,2,3 etc for line bore. Of course you need to have a line of code for each drop, so if you have same drill head, 7 spindles in x that I do, you will need to create start points for every 7 spindles in line.
I have never had a problem importing dxf files from other program. At one time I was going to try Mozaik to see how good of a configurator it was especially If I could get dxf out of it. Vcarve is reasonably good at cad but takes a lot of time to draw individual cabinet parts.
Vcarve is good at creating tool paths and code within its realm, its great if you only need routing and single spindle holes.
We also have Cabinetvision and agree it would be a better screen to machine solution if you have a lot of parts to nest. We have not purchased the nesting abilities of that program since our machine is a PTP and parametric programs are the name of the game there.
Jus wondering what construction method you plan to use, do you need dowel holes + hardware and dadoes?
