Omal 1300 HBD hands down- you can also get the same machine with a Biesse sticker if you like. The main reason we chose this machine after years of research is the simplicity and consistency laser measuring system. It's as fool proof and consistent as you can get, especially for a custom shop. Support has been fantastic and their vertical drill is the best option to maintain redundancy should our CNC go down and we want to do all machining. It's a little slower than some of the barcode driven systems, or those for high flow of the same parts, but simple and reliable.
There's a lot more to consider as you look to dowel construction. Case clamp- $ location, floorspace, operators, part and box handling operations. Your boring block on the CNC will now need a spot for an 8mm bit. Part handling changes as well. Cut band bore is pretty standard and you'll have to decide how to organize parts and whatnot and make sure the right parts are doweled on the right side every time.
We are wrestling with doweling everything from the simplicity of round peg in round hole versus the speed of a true cabinetmaker making things like toes from material at the bench.
