1995 morbidelli author 504 199511/14
I recently bought a morbidelli authoer 504 at auction. Is it only capable of boring/milling panels?
Very vague question. What else do you want it to do? These are machining centers that remove material by drilling and milling/routing. Only limitation is the creativeness of the programmer and operator. I would usually avoid buying any used CNC unless you ran the machine and inspected the machined parts. I've seen many old machines with serious mechanical wear and electronic issues, not to mention its software made 22 years ago.
I was seduced by the low bid amount. Not a good business decision on my part
What software do you plan to use to create CAD files?
A really good inexpensive CAM program is SheetCAM. Drop Les there a note and see if he can talk to your control. I'm betting he can.
Here's a link to a discussion about Morbidelli and SheetCAM.
If you're only going to be running sheet goods you could build a flat table for it.
I can tell you from experience it's nice to have good old machines producing parts for less $ then most people pay for their saw.
