Biesse Rover S FT Safety Curtain Logic12/29
I am having a little trouble with the safety curtain, the table blue button and the green button on the tower and the constant logic issues
Anyone have some insight ?
So for instance the curtain will not reset easy, and with the conveyor/off load, there can be a failure and it takes Killing WRT to address
The safety seems to have no consistency in the logic for reset and it's flat out costing me a lot of money in down time
If there is a safety relay in the system, try tapping it with a screwdriver head or something while trying to reset the curtaing. These relays have a finite lifespan and might start getting stucked, and a reset might seemingly help. I have had similar problems, and the behavior can get seemingly weird.
I would give Charlotte a call. Not sure exactly what you are experiencing. I know it seems a little more cumbersome with the light curtain versus safety mats, however it may just be something simple being overlooked. Should not have to restart WRT just due to loss of 24v in safety circuit.
Safety light curtains are tied into one safety relay. Tapping on it will not fix it. One light curtain will be a sender and only have power supplied via the cable connected to it. The second curtain will be the receiver and usually has two lights on it. One for power and one saying it is reading the sender. They should both be green. If both lights are not green and only one. I would say the alignment of the curtains is not good. One may have gotten "bumped" by someone and is sometimes seeing the other one. It could also be that something is sticking in the way. You would have to check the wiring diagram. There is usually a "Yellow" relay that the saftey curtain ties into. This relay usually has 3 green lights on it. One for power and the other two saying the safety curtain is working and both channels are reading. I would check this first and follow the wiring diagram. It can explain the circuit of how the signal goes after the relay and then it activates a safety contactor in the cabinet. All of these could be failure points.
Not sure about your specific problem, we never have to restart any thing. We will occasionally have to flip conveyor key and push button several Ikeís to offload. If your having to restart wrt something isnít right.
I too have experienced many problems with the e-stop, air pressure monitor switch and safety cable encompassing my machine. All these safety sensors run along one circuit that can make troubleshooting difficult when multiple sensors are malfunctioning. Biesse has been great with phone support but in the end I did what Derrek suggested, a bypass.
I didnít bypass any safety items, I just added a button to the console so I didnít have to walk the 8í to the machine every time I needed to hit the blue button.
