Hello, I have a 5 foot sliding table saw and lately I have run into the problem of having my sheet goods pinching after the blade. My crosscut fence is square with the blade and the run parallel as well my rip fence is parallel. It doesn't matter whether I take the cross cut fence off and then cut the piece or if I only use the cross cut fence and put the rip fence to the side. Just wondering if any one else has had a similar problem and if they found out the reason. Thanks

Is it pinching on the blade or the riving knife?Sometimes the kerf can be too small and pinch on the riving knife. If it is pinching the blade,I would say it could be the plywood causing the problem, sometimes import plywood will cause this.

It is pinching on the blade and it's worst with the melamine sheet goods, which doesn't seem to make sense to me since it should have little to no movement. Is it possible to have bad batch of melamine sheets, or is there somewhere in my set up that would cause this.

Watch how many times you get your blades sharpened as your kerf will narrow causing a bind on the splitter, causing you to think it is wood movement causing the problem when it is not.

I bet you have a dull blade.

Melamine can have tension in it. There are various ways that, at least in theory, will eliminate it. The simplest is to take a cut along one long edge about 1" in and a couple of feet long. Then turn the sheet and continue to process. We've had a few times over the years when it has become a problem. Luckily we are cutting on a Schelling beam saw. It has a program to deal with it. Actually works quite well. It will select a rip cut that is near the center of the sheet, pull the sheet into the saw and raise the blade after going under the panel. That leaves a connection of about 4 inches uncut. Does the same near the end of the cut. It then automatically adjusts the remaining cuts to allow a trim cut on both sides of the original tension relief cut.
