SAYERLACK Hydroplus AF71 VS Valspar WB C.V4/2
Has any of you guys tried both SAYERLACK Hydroplus and VALSPAR Zenith WB Conv. vanish and can honestly with no bias give a "clear" comparison diff !?
We ran close to a hundred gallons of AF72. Never saw AF71 but this was a couple years back. Liked the metal pails with locking bands. Still have them around the shop.
Never heard of or sprayed the AF71, but did spray AF72 and I have sprayed Valspar Zenith. No comparison between the valspar and the AF72. While the Valspar is a pretty good product, the Sayerlack AF72 is a superior product in every way. Sprays out better, sands better, better scratch resistance, better moisture resistance.
The only negative I can say about the AF72 is a minor issue we had when spraying over light colours and using a 2P-10 glue. The glue activator would cause the finish to discolour after a few weeks.
A quick look on the sayerlack website doesnt show an AF71, but does show AFL71 but it says its for flow coating. So not really sure what you are planning to do, but if spraying, I would go with the AF72.
First thing.... I believe before going further it's quite important to clear this skepticism on the existing of the SAYERLACK Hydroplus AF71.
Now, that's said & cleared.....
TO JM ; I must thank you for this very valuable info you took time to share.
I was quite curious to read before hand on ACTUAL SAYERLACK Hydroplus users feed back, as I'm a strong believer on what this WOODWOEB and many other "so-call" pro web forum are here for.....exchanging actual info, experience, knowledge & pertinent data from our work, ( nor in what the pail looks like !!....)
With all respect to all, nothing personal nor attacks intended, just clearing and re-steering the....goal, target !

"Now, I've been ask to try this SAYERLACK Hydroplus ( AF71 to me....but maybe same to you as a AF72??....not important for now!!"
That seems to make no sense. If AF71 is a different formula than the AF72 its crucially important hence two people saying they havent seen AF71. Beyond that the Sayerlack line as offered by SW is still somewhat new in the US and its unclear (but assumed by your grammar) that you may either be outside the US or from outside the US (both of which are wonderful). But if your outside the US or in Europe, you may have access to a lot more of the Sayerlack line that most who post here do.
When you go to Sherwins site, all but a couple PDF requests on their own Hydroplus page return a clear page warning that "no information has been retrieved and if you are in an emergency please call such and such a number". Meaning if your employee drank a pint of material or the material was accidentally sprayed in someones eyes, you have no MSDS.
I really have no idea what your issue is? Tell your supplier to float you a couple gallons for free, bring it in house, and run some tests? Asking for input is great but if you dont get much, well, do your own testing. We were happy with the AF72 for a single part WB clear. We never ran a modifier (which left us uneasy), it was a fine single part finish. Our vendor gave us a few gallons we sprayed it, abused it in house, and went from there. It was touted to us as a single part waterborne suitable (and being used by) flooring manufacturers which immediately launched red flags but that may well have been in EU not in the US.
Robert, in the last 6 months I have sprayed both the Sayerlak AF71 and the Valspar WB CV (7702) and my vote definitely goes to the Sayerlak.
Yes PAUL, this helps very much !
Staring at the SDS/PDS for AF71 and AF72, there are differences (but they don't appear huge at a glance)
The Zenith line was just purchased by Axalta coatings. Some of the products were recalled at this time. I cant even get it right now. I wouldnt go making zenith products my standard until the transition is complete
Yeah, when Sherwin Williams acquired Valspar, it was required to divest itself of the wood coatings line.
The products are (so far) identical
I have sprayed the sayerlack waterbase solid color, I thought the rep who started me with the product said it was the 71. When I looked at one of the pails the other day it said it was AT99. I will have to ask him about that. The product is fantastic to work with, however he said you may get shear with a smaller pump. I use a kremlin 30:1 and it is great.
