I just started building cabinets and I have never painted cabinets before. Anyway I need to paint a set white. My questions are what wood, paint, lacquer should I use?
3/4" prefinished ply for cab boxes, soft maple for face frames/door frames, mdf for door panels, bondo for any defects that need filler. I like SherWill HiBild precat lacquer that is tintable, can also be used as a sealer. One heavy sealer coat, sand smooth, followed by two finish coats.
I wish everybody that posts responses would be as helpful and nice as Spicolli.
I like Poplar or Soft Maple for frame parts and mouldings.
I'm painting a table top is not paint enough?
Lacquer over paint?? Probably not a good idea unless the paint is a compatible lacquer also.
