centoloc head insert knives9/28
Has anyone had any trouble with some centroloc inserts not being sharp right out of the pack.
just received a new set from weinig and they simply aren't sharp. I contacted weinig but haven,t heard back.
It's not a moisture content question or anything like that of the wood.
I've noticed in general it seems the quality of inserts, not just from them is not as good.
i would like to know if anyone else has expereinced any trouble
I have seen this a couple of times. The manufacturer took care of and replaced them. I would suggest that you do not try to use them if they have a flat or unsharpened edge on them. This will not produce a very low quality cut and can increase the possibility of breakage of the insert.
As with all carbide, be sure to wash your hands after handling them.

Thanks Dave, the inserts that recieved from weinig were High speed steel, they were ground, but on the flat side you could see a line of reflection like a dull edge. This wasn't just one set,but 4 sets.
These were made in Germany, and are all shiny. Weinig used to sell these and then started selling knives from the european union that the unground portion was black.
That is the first I have ever heard of washing your hands after handling carbide,
We have not had any issues with ours that I am aware of. And David is correct, always a good idea to wash your hands after handling carbide. Also, not a good idea to eat, drink or smoke while handling it also.
