Veneer hot press clean9/21
Hi all hope your having a good day
Can any one recommend a way to clean the stainless steel sheets from glue i have an italpress machine
Hope u can help me with that
Veneer Pressing Systems sells a glue release paste for presses. I sharpen a piece of 1/8" acrylic with a square edge to scrape glue off while the press is warming.
Tom is correct but he got our company name mixed up a bit.
We sell release agents from Acmos which provide a barrier to glue build up on hot press players. It is a paste Acmos 1124b.
First you need to clean any current glue build up off with a plastic scraper. Do not use anything metal as you may scratch the surface. Warm up the plates and then apply the Acmos with a rag or a block of wood with a felt pad attached to it. If you notice glue starting to build up again it is time to reapply.
Vinegar will dissolve the dried glue.
We had a 4 post Italpress and covered the top and bottom platens with .010 thick mylar. We rigged up destayco clamps to hold it in place. For cleaning we could have it off the press in minutes. The problem with release agents is they can sometimes effect finish. We also found that when pressing multiple times, as in 5 plying, the second pressing may have adhesion issues. If you go that way, do some testing. Cheers.
