There's a story behind this table.

When I started working at DL Armstrong no one ever did any hand carving on any of the furniture, Why? I asked. No one knows how! Was the anwser I got. I said I would like to try if we ever get the chance to. Not long after that this table came about. I was asked if I thought I could pull it off? I anwsered I'm not sure , but let's find out. Bid it high I said, so he did. We got it and I started.
This was my first attempt at carving, relief or other wise. No one ever believes me, but I assure it is the truth. All I can tell you is I can just see it in my head before I start. I've never been taught. I've just learned everything I know by doing it. Don't consider myself an artist, just someone who gets the job done.
By the way,,,,He figured 315 hours to do this table. I did it in 314. It was built about 16 years ago or so.

I love your work, and your enthusiasm for your craft. If it wasn't for my wonderful family I would never leave my shop. Keep on posting your work.

That's over $22,000 in todays dollars, correct?
Posted By:Les Hastings
In today's dollar it would be in that price range for sure.
Thanks Brad & Drwoodchip for your comments!!

Awesome – your work is fantastic! Question about pricing – a poster said 22k now – does that imply about $60 per hour – I guessed at the material cost to put that figure up.
