Well it has been a long time since I posted a project on here. Of course this project took a long time to complete so I guess that could have something to do with it. At any rate the materials here are Padauk for the cabinet, Wenge for the base and interior columns, and maple for the jewelry compartment and carved door. The cabinet tells a story, and I know what my story is as the artist. However, I will leave it up to you to interpret the design. Thanks for looking!

KOL, Very nice , intricate work ,
handle looks great. Do I detect a Krenovian influence in this piece ?
Also I noticed the pics came up backwards when I posted.Beautiful

Thanks for the comments D Brown. It is inspired by Krenov. I really favor the cabinet stand approach but love marquetry and carving. So I just have to incorporate them all. It's very weird that the pics come up backwards. Again thanks for the comment.

Simply outstanding! Thanks for showing us this work. It's great to see that a modern American craftsman can pull off this level of work.

Talk about multiple disciplines! No stone left unturned on this one. My favorite is the hidden compartments. Nice job.

Thanks for the comments guys. Sean I like to think that everyone comes up with their own story of the carving. My suggestion and the title of the piece is to think about what happens behind closed doors with two people. The fairy on the tree is looking through the window at them, a peeping fairy? Or perhaps the wife catching her cheating husband? We only know what we think. There is no real truth. Thanks again guys.
