The finish on the top is polyester, top coated with polyurethane and then buffed. Thanks.

You used stain and poly only and the refleck in the wood stood out that much? Also, when you edge joined the wood did you glue only? or dowel, biscut?

The stain is a walnut dye stain followed by a black wiping stain.

I don't use dowels or biscuts in my edge joints
