Spanish Cedar Hand Carved Piece

This a really nice piece, it must have taken an age to program the code for the cnc. What sort of price would a piece like this cost?

Thank you Chris, actually there was no CNC involved in this piece, althougt it would be nice to have one in my shop. It was all hand carved by my father, we specialize in hand carvings. Opened our own shop about a year ago and we built this piece as a showpiece. we haven't price it yet, any suggestion on how much a piece like this could market for? is all solid spanish cedar with some walnut and maple inlay on the top and the dimensions are 40Wx41Hx21D

Does your father use power carving equipment? I'm an aspiring carver looking to incorporate similar styles. Trying to figure out certain techniques for stepping up efficiency. Simply spectacular piece!

I like that you can see the differences in the carving. The shot of the front panel is a good one because you can tell the subtle differences in the carving of the foliage and scrolls.

Much better than a cnc in my opinion.

There is a certain organic feeeling of hand carving that cannot be matched by machine.

I think that is why really good, even mediocre, period carvings are so valuable. Especially if an attribution to the maker is evident.

Jeremy, my father did not use any power carving equipment in this particular piece we are also trying to implement some power tool but it seems difficult for us to get the same quality of carving when we do that. We sometimes use the Dremel and a Makita die grinder in some large carving elements, but not in this particular piece. I think a CNC with a proper software would be a great tool for a carver, and then finish it with the carver feeling in this case you or my father. Unfortunately a CNC is not a inexpensive equipment to get.

Jose, Wow....Royal Palace in Madrid, that means something!! Thank you. Wish my father and I could have the opportunity to go there sometime. We built this piece in our spare time and didn't exactly timed our selves, but we were estimating 160 hrs.

A true Masterpiece!I congratulate both you and your Father. It takes true old time craftsmanship to design and build such a true work of art! I do stave bowls and power carve bearded mens faces on canes. I can not imagine putting that much time and care in on one piece and all by hand. You are both true carving professionals!

I especially like the pierced doors and the style of acanthus carving (the flow,rolls and flips).Wonderful work!
