I made up my mind long ago that since it takes as long (except some cases) to make the piece out of regular vs figure wood, I would spend the extra for the nicest pieces; For once it is much more joyfull to work with and the customer gets an herloom piece ( and a smille.
I'm also blessed that I have direct acces to a mill in upstate NY where I get my figure wood both for me and fellow woodworkers.

Thank you Josh. I did not know they make heavy duty undermounts. I will use them next time, the drawers look much cleaner without those bulky hardware.
Nice desk, clean lines. It's my understanding that the side mount slides will support more weight when extended. It doesn't detract from such a nice piece.
