Dogwood Blanket Chest

Listing #2534 Listed on: 01/26/2010 Company Name: CT Fine Furniture

This is a small blanket chest made on spec and for inclusion in an upcoming book on blanket chests by Taunton Press due out sometime late this year or next. The piece is finished with satin conversion varnish inside and out. The front is a bent lamination with a gentle curve that is hard to see in the picture but makes the piece more interesting in person. I have used marquetry imagery of Dogwood flowers on a number of pieces over the past few years, you can see some of them on my website www.ctfinefurniture.com. Comments are welcome.

Was any dogwood lumber or veneer used inthe construction?

I have only used a small amount, but found it pleasant stuff.

Thanks for the compliment Kol. Gerald, no Dogwood materials were used; the Dogwood reference is for the Dogwood flower marquetry. I haven't worked with Dogwood lumber but it would be interesting to play around with some one day.

I really enjoy your work Craig, This piece has nice lines, balanced use of different colored woods, and and marquetry that compliments the whole piece. You are an inspiration for sure.
