The wood and the workmanship is beautiful. However, with the leaves down, I'm reminded of a vulture sitting on a limb with his wings drooped down. For the life of me, I cannot envision a use for this table unless the leaves are extended - with the leaves down, two people would sit at it five or six feet apart and look at each other. If you walk up to the table from the side, there is very little toe space and no knee space, so to do anything at the table, one would have to lock their knees and bend forward at the hips - a very uncomfortable position, especially for men. Things always look better in situ - I'd like to see it where it was designed to fit.

Thanks for all the comments. The table was designed for a client moving from a large house (that could fit a kitchen table and 9 foot dining room table) to a small farmhouse. The challenge was to design a table you could eat off for your daily meal, and also could grow into a proper dining room table. And it had to fit in a small room. With a large china hutch already in it. The clients eat daily with the leaves down (not facing the dropped leaves), and can comfortably seat 8 when there's a crowd. Unfortunately, I have no photos of the piece in situ.

hi, what sort of hours and money? These one-offs can sure stretch out and go over the hours quoted.
