A rare personal project I've wanted to tackle for a long time. I bought a stock 000-18 kit from Martin Guitar and added 45 style headstock and fingerboard inlays, white body and fingerboard bindings, white/black/white laminated headstock binding, along with maple/walnut/ebony top purfling and a shop made walnut/maple backband. The parts come machined to rough shapes and dimensions. As in the Martin factory, all the precise work has to be done by hand. For around $600.00 I have a dream guitar that Martin would sell for over $7000.00. I also gained great respect for the luthiers trade.

Very nice! Does it sound as good as it looks? I too have made some guitars and it is a very satisfying hobby. Do you plan to make any more?

It does sound great, really mellow compared to a Dreadnought.

Hey Dave. What a great way to get the 'bling' of the 45 series Martin's. Nice work and knowing Martin's well myself I can imagine how sweet she sound's!! Great job! Ken.

I would love to be picking The Wildwood Flower out on that guitar or any bluegrass song. Great job my friend.
