This is my most recent project and my first experience building chairs. It was also a great opportunity to use some of the Carpathian Elm Burl veneer I've got stored away. The tabletop and lower accent panels are Elm as are the center backsplats on the chairs.

Beautiful work!

Very nice work. I like the gentle curves and flowing design of the chairs particularly. The belt sander idea is a very clever and practical tip, thanks for sharing.

Kol and Jon, thanks for the comments. I was surprised just how handy that sander was for all the curved parts on the chairs. Since it had a cracked table it wasn't much use as a regular sander anyway.

Awesome work! Was wondering how you acheived your grain fill?
Posted By:Craig Thibodeau
Thanks Jim. Willy the fill is done with polyester first then gloss conversion varnish for the last little holes, etc. Finally topcoated with bright rub CV. It looks very nice but is quite expensive to produce. Hope that helps.

Beautiful work. Could you provide the brand names of the products you used for the grain fill? Thank you.

Roger, I'll check with my finisher next time I see him for the names of the products.

Excellent work. I too like the subtle curves of the chair legs. Great design.
