I thought that I'd share this project that has just recently wrapped up. This was built in Port Townsend Wa. at Salish Sea Yachts. I was brought in couple of years ago to consult with the owner and builder on the interior details. As this is only a 48 foot boat and there is a surprising amount of "stuff" inside, we felt that a mockup would be a good idea. I built a full size cardboard mockup so that we could all walk through and get a better feel for the spaces. We made quite a few minor changes and documented them.

Next I started working out the interior concept. The owner wanted a very Northwest Contemporary look. Clean simple details and Northwest woods. We went with Vertical Grain Douglas Fir, in solids and custom laid up VG Fir veneers. We accented that with Pacific Yew and Alaskan Yellow Cedar. Fir is softer than I would like, so we inlaid Yew in the corner posts and a couple of other areas that tend to take some abuse over the years. Once the details were approved I started construction drawings and picked hardware.

I was not on this full time but i was involved for the duration. I was asked to manage the interior part of the build and also work hands on with their crew. I did get to build and install quite a few pieces and it was a fun project.

The boat has three staterooms, 2 full heads with showers, a nice galley and a roomy, for a performance boat, saloon. She is powered by a pair of Volvo IPS drives and tops out at 35 knots.

The following pictures are a few of the details on board. If you would like to see more info on the build go to my website. shipwrightstyle.com Thanks for looking Dan

Beautifully precise! I live on the South Shore of Nova Scotia and appreciate the workmanship that goes into marine millwork. Nice work indeed!
