Memorial flag cases

Listing #368 Listed on: 06/27/2006 Name: Cy

Company Name: HomeHere are 2 of my memorial flag case designs. Both protect and display a standard (5'x 9') casket flag. The top design has "corners" made from mahogany and the remainder made from walnut. There are small diamond shaped mahogany inlays in the sides. The lower design is oak with walnut splines. Both are finished with a satin poly. They are able to be hung on the wall or set on a flat surface.
Can you believe the flag in the case was folded and presented by the Marines! Thanks for looking.

Nice work, too bad we still need it. I think your pieces will be cherished by the families that have them, and that is a good thing. A memorial flag is not really what a family hopes to get from thier sons/daughters service to our country. I do like your work (I have seen it before I think), and keep it up. I am not going to get all political/emotional here, but we have a few memorial flags in the family...kinda wish we still had the men who came home under them instead. But who ever said freedom is free?

Very nice work on the flag case. Interesting touch with the rounded corners. I have been a picture framer for a long time, and have indeed seen many more of these in recent years -- as our World War II veteran population passes on...we tidy the flags up a bit, as much as we can without unfolding them, but it is sad the way they are folded when the family receives them.

Very nice work and I am sure it will be appreciated. And yes, if we only had the freedoms of...............well I can't think of a better country country than ours but maybe someone will.

A few observations about veteran's flags after having been a funeral arranger for about 7 years: flags are not consistent in dimensions, fold the same flag several times and it will come out differently, after you fold the triangle the last time the amount of flag left over varies. It looks to me like the flag in the case has the backside displayed (based on the partial stars and the white of the end binding running from top to bottom left of the display).
