This is a 1950's telephone table that was badly worn and ready for the dumpster. After a leg repair I decided the wood was too pretty to throw away and it should be refinished.

The finishing schedule was as follows;

-Strip bare with Circa Stripper using scraper and coarse scotch brights.
-Sand for several hours by hand with Norton 220g untill all remaining
colour, patina and finish are gone.
-Stain liberally with 1 coat Target #409 Golden Maple with foam brush.
-Wipe off all excess stain
-Seal and build with EM8800 Sealer 2 coats
-Sand with 3m super-fine pad
-Fill grain and pores with HSF filler, top sides, back and drawer fronts.
-Sand back to level and repeat filler.
-Apply 4-6 coats of Targets Brushing Varnish Gloss(BVR discontinued).
-Sand above back to level with 600g every 2 coats
-Let cure for 5 days.
-Rub out top only with Abralon pads 1000g-2000g-4000g wet.
-Polish top only with 3m swirl remover.

Probably took a total of 20 hours..

Excellent job! The outcome is well worth 20 hours of labor and that finish will certainly last a very long time.
