The fixture is built so it holds the caliper by it's top jaw. An oak runner is fastened on the bottom to keep it steady in the slot in the tablesaw top. The two small blocks at the right end simply keep the caliper from swinging, just in case the jaw clamp loosens.
I set the caliper so it touches a marked out tooth on the saw blade and zero the reading. The fixture is moved back and the blade is rotated so the marked tooth is where the caliper can just touch it.
The reading should be zero.
For the rip fence the caliper is set at zero near the front edge and two more places along the fence should measure out at zero.
