Aftermarket Butt Bar

Listing #77   Listed on: 03/14/2012

Hello I recently bought a used sliding table saw (Laguna A175014) and it is missing some major features, one that I would like to add. I would like to retrofit an adjustable butt bar onto the wagon. I'm am not real familiar with these machines this is only the second one I have ever used. My plan was to try to find some t-track/extruded aluminum channel and bolt it onto the wagon under the round bar that the outrigger/sidetable attaches to, and then have a bolt in the t-track and then have some kind of large bolt as the butt bar. Here is a picture if the wagon profile. I am open to any suggestions.

With 40 years working with sliders and repairing them I'm not familiar with the term "butt bar"! How about showing what you call a butt bar...

butt bar is piece of pipe that slides along the traveling beam. It sticks out perpendicular to the beam and you bring it up behind you to act as a brake when you are pushing material against the outboard fence.

I just made one for my 80's Panhans saw. I'll shoot a picture tomorrow.

any luck getting a butt bar made? I've got a Robland saw w/ a rectangular acc. bar instead of the round one and had a local machine shop fabricate a butt bar for me. I'm still getting my chops busted for it too. I can send a sketch if you still need it.
