MDF mortise

I mortised these concealed hinges into 5/8 mfd leaving an 1/8 material and its so fibrous in the hole. I could use my fingernail and go thru the board. I realize the hinge will be in there but should I coat the hole with something in case moisture gets in there?

I've never drilled that close to the edge. No idea what will happen. Looks shallow from here.

Have you ever used a Blum concealed hinge? Some times the hole, depending on the hinge, penetrates the edge.

The euro hinges were invented for 16mm melamine type sheets. 5/8 is approximately 16mm.
Blum clip hinges need a bore of 11.5mm perhaps you drilled too deep.

No I've never used Blum concealed hinges, but I used Grass by the case lots before I retired. Never did I drill the pocket where it broke out of the edge.

What did you use to drill the holes with, I have never seen a hinge hole in mdf look like that before. What kind of mdf did you use?
Cabinet doors generally don’t get much moister, only the ones below the sink if the homeowner has kids like mine.
What are you finishing the doors with?
