Canwood widebelt won't start

Bought an older canwood widebelt sander which was sold from House of Tools. Everything looks good and rise and fall works fine, feeder belt works fine but can't get main head to start. Electrical contactor is new but rattles and won't engage fully. If I push the contactor manually in the electrical box on the machine it's starts and runs just fine. Is it a solenoid problem? It has no electrical diagram. Second thing is the sanding belt limit switch is busted off. Has a ceramic stick on it. Where to buy those?

Are you running this off of a phase converter or utility supplied 3 phase?

Phase converter. I am thinking the voltage drops on startup due to load and the contact is not getting sucked in and holding

Check to see if the manufactured leg is hooked to the contactor coil. It should not be.

Your ceramic belt edge switch stick thingy might be found at Grizzly Tools. I've bought a few parts for my non-Grizzly widebelt from there with decent luck.

Sounds like incorrect voltage to the coil that pulls the contactor in.

I agree, low voltage going to the contactor.

Resolved. Not enough amperage from the phase converter to handle the inrush load on startup. Voltage drops and can't hold contactor in.
I spin up the motor with a 1 phase starter motor then it will allow the 3 phase to kick in. Rinky dink but at least it runs beautifully.

Solved again. Voltage from phase converter was good, the electrician had the generated leg on the wrong pole. It cannot feed the circuit that goes to the transformer.
