Jewelry Chests

Listing #2982 Listed on: 11/25/2010 Name: Jake Brain Member

I was working on treasure or keepsake boxes for my 9 grandchildren when one of my daughters-in-law saw them and said that if I was looking for something to work on she really would like a jewelry chest. So I said that I would and then I remembered that I had 4 daughters-in-law so I better make at least 4, well if I make 4 it is just as easy to make 7.
I used soft maple and cherry for the box sides and the top were either maple or cherry with African Padauk inlay borders. The trays were made from Honduras mahogany that I had kept for 40 years for a special project.
Box size 12” wide x 9”deep x 7 ¼” high
3 coats of M. L. Campbell – Krystal – A clear, post-catalyzed conversion varnish which is a non-yellowing, water white formula
Box sides made from a single board assuring perfect color and matching wood grain as its wrapped around the face of each box matching the grain at each corner.

I just thought I'd ask if I could be one of your daughters-in-law for ...just a little bit!?!

I'm just kidding! Very nicely done and a great job! Your family is very lucky to have you!
