incredible work... even better photography. Never underestimate the power of a picture. Ever since we started getting our work professionally photographed our bid to contract percentage has gone up. Nothing replaces that sense of awe a client has when they see a project like this captured so perfectly. P.S. the best place to get large pictures printed is Costco.com I get 20x30 prints done for $8.99! Its easily triple that most other places. Its a cost whos return is quickly realized. The work looks really good but the photos are heavily edited. It makes one not trust the work as much. I appreciate that the guy was a "professional" but you have to walk a fine line with editing.

The only "editing" done is taking multiple pictures of varying exposure and combining those pictures to get even light around the room. It is called high dynamic range imaging. Other than lighting range and shadows, this project is exactly as it appears in photos.

What are the estimated hours? How about the actual hours to complete? What is the percentage of buyouts?

The woodwork is beautiful. The only missing element is that the windows need to lose the fabric. Mahogany shutters are the only way to go.

Okay, I'm going to be a little critical, but first let me say that overall it is a nice job. My critique today is not to offend but to help you improve a tad. This job is brought down a few notches by the use of Enkebol's moulding planted on the surface. It's just awful. I would have even used a couple different sizes of it, but that is minor. What is always a mark of lesser craftsmanship is to surface mount this stuff instead of placing it in a recess as it should be. The coffered lid is nice where you did this very thing. I would suggest the next time that you always (almost) avoid the plant on stuff. Especially the heavy carved work of Enkebol.

The finish was just a wiping stain. It was wiped off with a balled rag so extra pigment stayed in the details, giving it a glazed look.

Hours? I have to be honest I don't have those records anymore, we did this years ago. Mitering the solid raise around the veneer panels took some time but no more than making it all out of solids. All the carving stuff was from Bendix if I remember correctly. Everything else fabricated in house.

Link, they actually all are rabbeted in but I agree looking back that either a smaller scale egg and dart or deeper recess on the panel would have been better.
