Serpentine Table

Listing #345 Listed on: 04/28/2006 Name: Bob W

Company Name: WoodmastersThe Serpentine Table (so-called because of the serpentine shape of the front and sides) is from a plan by Warren May. May calls it "Kentucky-style" furniture but it's obviously reminiscent of late 18th century designs from the "Golden Age" of American furniture design. The piece is approx. 43 inches wide, 14 inches deep and 29 inches high. Constructed from some highly figured cherry, it's stained with aniline dye, and finished with a coat of dewaxed shellac and a couple of coats of pre-cat lacquer.

Looks great Bob!

This is not meant to be critical, but you take pictures like I do. If you are going to put this piece in your portfolio, and you should, lose the background.

For some reason I never take the time to get a picture that does a piece justice.

Nice work.

Thanks Fred. And you're absolutely right about the photo. I keep thinking that I should take the time to the photo right, but... more pressing projects always seem to await. Perhaps your comment will provide the needed motivation.

hey that lamp and those flowers look familiar:) Good looking table.

I think the table looks great! Very nicely proportioned. I wouldn't mind seeing a close-up though, to see how the figured grain came out.

This is a gorgeous table. I also would like to see a close up of the grain, but I'll bet its wonderful. The knobs however, are a little small. Just a little bigger to show off the contrast with that nice finish would be more in balance. You are obviously a top notch craftsman.

WOW! This is nice. A hand made piece like this $1500-$2000. easy.

Also at first glance I thought you were selling a lamp. LOL Lose the lamp. Now maybe a half dresses bathing beauty leaning over it just so but no lamp, flowers too.
