A nice piece of work. Just wondering why it's very ornate on the bottom and more plain on the top, especially the frontal view?

Steve, I've spent considerable time in Orthodox churches and the ornate bottom in relation to the top is a fairly normal traditional style for lecterns. Especially those intended to hold an icon. Nothing there to detract from the iconography.

Ok, now I understand. Was just wondering and the piece is really great! Thank you.
