Walnut Guitar Stand

This walnut guitar stand is more robust than it looks due to the splines at every change in grain direction.

The neck support is embellished with a touch of (nouveau-ish) carving and the carved tray (secured with a square maple peg) holds a capo and picks.

The instrument supports near the bottom were shaped to emulate the carved bridges seen on older stringed instruments.

Finished in tung oil.

Quite honestly, I have the woodworking skills of a Chimpanzee! That still
doesn't detract from my enjoyment and sharing it with friends!

Beautiful piece. Can you share some pics of the carving and building process?

Very impressive. I'd love to build something similar, I just don't have the carving skills.

s-w-e-e-t stand! Fitting for THE top-end guitars like the nylon stringed KOPO (sassandra 1 ).A bit different but nice of cour$e it's way out of my range. By the way I couldn't make out the name on the head of the one featuring your stand.I now own a no-name 'backseat' single cutaway classical ,but don't play classical. I just like its sound and tone. I listen to a broad spectrum of music,Earl Klugh,Pat Metheny, big Beatles fan etc.I started on elec. bass then learned some guitar chords bought a CF Martin D-18 in '74 which I sold (ughrr) and now the nylon thing just for fun. This morning I'm introducing myself to wood, types, how to cut for diff. grain patterns. That has always interested me so now I'm an old fart with a lot of free time, till my wife gets up!.OK...too much information!.....thanks,Dave
