These eight chairs go with the oak leaf theme dining table I made around four and half months ago.
My design for these chairs was to match up to the table legs to the front chair legs. Basically I scaled down to half size. Also to have the backs of the chairs to have acorns and scrolls incorporated into the carvings.
I was inspired by, Thomas Chippendale for the chair design he was a famous furniture maker and designer back in 1754 he published a book titled, “The Gentleman & cabinet Makers Director”

I want to give a special thank you to my son Eric Zongker for helping me make these chairs. This was a great project to teach him how to carve because of the repetition. Eric carved both the faces of the lower middle of the backs of each chair. Thanks for looking and Happy Woodworking to you!

Thank you Robert, D Brown, Ken Havinga for you kind complements.

Hi Robert, To archive this dark color and also bring out the grain of the genuine mahogany. I first use a dark brown walnut aniline toner, then I brush on a dark walnut stain. Then spray three coats of a catalyzed lacquer.

Very good job. How did you attach the front legs? It appears that they are mounted under the seat and not part of the seat construction. A little unorthodox method of chair construction.
