Swing Blade Log Trim Jig

Listing #59   Listed on: 10/09/2011
 Member

To remove the conflict between esthetic and building code sensibilities, we have worked out a way to embed a pressure treated timber inside a log post that would otherwise not pass code for outdoor application. The log is split in half and glued with splines back together around the installed pressure treated post.

why don't anyone ever fight the inspector on this issue,
Ih you have a pine log your using as a post why is it ok to to cut it up and use it but not ok to use it as is, Pine log in pine log out, it does not change, they just want to protect the unions that own the grade stamp.

Well actually it is "ok to cut it up and use it" because we are putting pressure treated or a steel post inside. when we put it back together. Without that the pine log would rot and the structure would fall down. With this method the pine log trim that can be replaced at that future date with out structural issues.
