Touching Up Carbide Planer Knives
A diamond honer can touch up the edge on a carbide cutter. April 27, 2007
Question
My carbide planer knives are still sharp enough to do a good job on softer woods, but need a little honing for hardwoods with knots. Is there a diamond tool on the market that can put an edge on carbide planer knives?
Forum Responses
From Dave Rankin, forum technical advisor:
I picked up a DMT hone from my local hardware store for touching up my carbide knives.
From contributor C:
Woodtechtooling.com has a full selection of DMT diamond sharpeners.
