Does anyone else have as much trouble as I do finding service techs in your area? I had one guy that disappeared and another guy that didn't seem to know all that much. I am near Chicago, a major metropolitan area and I can't for the life of me find a person to come out to my shop to diagnose a problem with my wide belt. I have an SCM Sandya and have called their support line. I end up sitting in the office all day waiting for a call from their tech. When I do get a callback it is muffled and I can't hear a thing and they usually have a thick southern accent that makes it hard to understand. Any tips or info on a tech in the Chicago area? Thanks
I would think that SCM would have someone local, have you asked? I know that Biesse and Stiles have some techs in town but they can't work on scm. Maybe try local dealers, wurth, wms, mitch and whomever else sells there? There are a handful of indepentent guys in Chicago but availability is tough and skills sets vary.
Have you tried the local SCM dealer?
Joe, thanks for your response. I have a good relationship with WSI and they are stumped as well. They got me in touch with a guy but he is never available.
Sorry I can't help as I'm in San Diego, but I thought I'd add my experience here as I was thinking about writing a similar post.
I bought a new SCM Olyimpic bander a year ago. I went with SCM because I assumed they would have good service. So far, I have had ZERO service. They don't staff any techs. They are all 1099. Which would be fine if they were responsive. Their tech for my area (same one who setup my machine) won't return my phone calls or emails. He finally did call me once after I complained to the local sales office. But he never did come to my shop.
I found another tech to work with who is good at most of the machine. But he's not familiar with the pre-mill. So I'm just really disappointed in SCM and would have gone with a different company if I could do it over again.
