Quicklock Terminus Style Moulder Head3/1
I have a Terminus style moulder head that has insert planer knives, and pockets to accept profiled knives. Can I use this just as a planer head without the other pockets filled. I know with a standard steel corrugated head you're supposed to fill unused pockets with balanced filler stock. I don't see any practical way to do this with this style head.
You should be fine, the knife pockets on the Terminus style heads are not very deep as a standard cutter head. You will be able to tell as soon as you slide it on the spindle, if it goes on with no hesitation you will be fine, if it binds or hard to slide on try tightening the gibs again with equal pressure.
This head is designed to run with just the straight knives and not the other pockets filled. However; when using the other pockets it is important to use the same number of gibs and knives in opposing pockets to maintain a good balance.
