exterior wood bond to metal plate7/7
Have a project replacing wood elements on a wood & metal push / pull plate on exterior glass doors in Texas. Metal is mechanically fastened to glass doors and wood is adhered to metal. West exposure, no overhang, lots of sun. Previously held for 8 years with what appears to be a combination of PUR adhesive and silicone. Is there a better adhesive? With all the sun and weather extremes, concerned about expansion and contraction of metal.
3M 5200 is the best product I can think of.
The metal expands and contracts due to temperature, and the wood to moisture.
It is suitable for underwater on boats
It is good to stick metals completely because it creats very stick bond between to metal pieces.
I second Keith's 3M 5200
Sikaflex makes several poly adhesive/sealants that are similar.
