DE Lamination headache11/16
I have a bunch of casework that is de laminating and I need to fix in the field. Look at Photo and any suggestions please let me know.
It looks painful.
What kind of glue was used? Application, pressing, processing, etc.
The more you can share, the better the answer(s).
well, I do not know the type of glue. We are called in to repair this work that was done 2 years ago. the original contractor has washed his hands of the job.
Looks like they used the same glue we do, WA 950. The photo looks like the adhesive was sprayed way too thin, and maybe it wasn't pressed adequately. You can buy the aerosol cans of 3M contact adhesive at any big box, and spray it again. Look at the mating surfaces and make sure there is ZERO detritus in there, or you'll get bumps. Follow the directions on the can and roll the PL after with a hand roller or a floor roller. This is SOP for our field crew fixing others work. Hope it helps.
This looks like the famous Wilsonart 1730/1731 bad batch adhesive. We've been dealing with this out here in northern ca for the last year. We have over a half dozen projects that we completed 2 to 3 years ago where we are having d-lam problems with.
One of my clients mentioned that WA was helping with repairs...you might want to contact them.
