Need some advice on how to re make this top5/13
We are a refinishing company and the owner said we need to re make this "wooden hinge" top that has a steel rod through the entire top to make the hinging work.
We do not have a vac press and I'm not sure a local company who is a solid wood and veneered wood supplier will lay upbthe top.
Obviously there's solid wood blocks with a rounded profile to allow the top to rotate. It appears as though the pre drilled an 1/8" hole through each block, attached it to an mdf core and then veneered both sides.
How would you guys make a top like this? Especially not having a vac press.
Here are more pics. Looks like they ran a groove on the tablesaw and glued in this block of wood
I'd do it just like the original was made. Worked for many years.
