edgebander tape roll finish sensor6/23
Does anyone have a system in place to let operator know when the edge tape roll is about to finish?
My guys have a tendency to push about 5 doors through before someone realises the roll has finished and they are cutting into and rewetting 5 doors not to mention getting glue in the buffers and general nightmares.
I'm thinking of a simple device that you clip onto the end of the tape roll and when you are near the end of the tape somehow it disconnects from the sensor that turns on a light and sounds a siren??
Interested to see what others do.
My guys watch the edgebander,, so much for Humor... you could make a laser switch that rings a bell turns on a light or shuts the machine down, depending on what you want to spend and the importance. think safety beam
Random drug tests and CT scans.
Is it really that hard? I 2nd Jim's idea.
We installed a photo switch that the edging runs thru. when it runs out the piston that prevents feeding parts too close together is activated so that a new part can not be fed into bander. If you dont have piston just hook sensor up to flashing strobe light at front of machine so the operator cant help but notice. This works good, we only have issue on large parts as sensor goes on at aprox last 24" of roll. Worst case only one panel gets damaged.
And yes when you are running full dollies of parts it is very easy to not notice that there is no edging in machine.
We run a 2007 Holzher 1310 bander it has a sensor that lights a light on the control when the banding is in position. The operator needs to look at the light to insure the tape is ready before they run the next panel. You can run the panel without the light on so the operator still needs to be aware.
great idea the photo sensor. i'm going to build a sensor that rings a bell and turns on a light. We have a piston that doesn't allow parts through too close together but I don't want to mess with that, maybe I will install another piston in front of that one to make it truly fool proof.
