What do you guys charge for a solid maple drawer box with half blind dovetails and grass or blum soft close under mounts? Just want a general idea of say a 4-5" tall x 16w x 22 deep. It is unreal what the manufactures want for one of these...and I must be under pricing mine.
$114 all sizes up to 32" wide, including a slab front.
Over 32" we switch to a 569 and add the anti rack kit. I don't remember what we charge for that.
We use birch instead of maple. A little easier to machine and sand.
Pins/tails are cut on a Cantek automatic dovetailer.
If you were buying it from me, $35 plus the cost of slides.
That's select hard maple. Blum slides w/adjustable locking devices installed, $19.50
About $100 including the slides into my own cabinets. But it'll be Baltic Birch with dovetails, 3/8" bottom 5/8" sides.
Can buy a prefinished drawer that size from WalzCraft for about $36, plus hardware. Add mark-up and labor. Done. We don't build any dovetail boxes because for us it's cheaper to outsource.
I just figured shipping would be stupid high for 10-20 drawer boxes at a time. I've always made mine, but there is a ton of time involved to do them right.
hey guys, i'm a little embarrassed to say that we charge $210/drawer or rollout tray. (we don't differentiate between sizes)
When I tossed out the $35 price for that drawer, that wasn't a cost to the customer, that would be my selling price to a cabinet shop.
JeffM, I agree with you that shipping can get expensive. It's best to find a manufacturer that's close to you to minimize those costs.
You can buy something at Waltzcraft for $36??? You must be related! LOL.
